Religious practice

I make my practice as a Shia and a Muslim as meaningful as possible. I do not visit any Imambargah very much these days which, frankly, I do not feel is a great loss to me. I follow Ayatullah Khamenei as my marja', but that in no way means I am totally convinced by all facets of the Usuli argument. As far as my religious expectations go, it would be nice to meet someone who has made up their mind about being Shia and has conviction in their belief and level of practice.

My partner preferences

The most important quality I value is someone who can live by the Golden Rule, a.k.a. treat others like you would like to be treated. I am put off by displays of apathy toward others. It would be great to find someone who likes to travel to foreign locations, has a stable career, and a progressive attitude towards women's rights and other social issues.

More about me

The most relevant thing about me is that I am a Third Culture kid, i.e. my family moved around a lot. I now prefer being somewhat itinerant and work in a federal job that encourages such a lifestyle. I'll open up about this more during an actual conversation. Politically, I am progressive/left-of-center and care deeply about matters pertaining to equal rights and opportunities. I am passionate about community service and am fortunate to have time and money to give to causes I support. I enjoy an eclectic selection of books, movies, music, television, and live sports. I like to cook traditional Pakistani fare and also put my spin on dishes from other cultures. I hope that everything I've written thus far shows my intent to find a suitable match. I am not going to accept requests from matches who have not made a likewise effort. So if anything you've read here intrigues you, please message me and we'll go from there.
