Religious practice

I am a practising muslima, praying 5 times daily, listening to majalis and seeking to gain more knowledge. I observe hijaab and dress modestly. I performed Hajj in December 2007/2008 which was the most truly amazing experience I've ever had - Alhamdulillah. May Allah (swt) accept my efforts and take me to the holiest place once again - Ameen. I have also been blessed with visiting our Holy Imams (a.s) too, Ziyarahs to Syria, Iran and Iraq which were mindblowing experiences. I am very close to my family which comes within the practice of deen, to love, help and respect them as much as possible. My religious expectations from a prospective partner would basically have to be the same as mine; obviously not the hijaab part, lol, but a beard would be nice! Someone who is willing to gain further knowledge and practise with good intent or even better someone more practising than myself to help me advance further in to the deen.

My partner preferences

I would like to meet someone who is of British origin, born and brought up in the UK as I am of firm belief that both mentalities agree more from those being from abroad; should be caring, honest and definitely down to earth with a good sense of humour. Someone who is understanding and a support to me as I would be to him. I am looking for the right individual with good Islamic qualities, etiquette, understanding and actual practise of our ever so humbling deen which Allah (SWT) has ordained for us so that we may learn and progress together. I believe in only this way of following Rasul (SAW) and his Ahl (AS) will we achieve success in this life and the next - Insha'Allah. May Allah (swt) give us wisdom and help us to raise our children in the correct manner - Ameen.

More about me

I am a convert to Shia Islam from being a Sunni and still have much to learn and knowledge to gain as indeed knowledge is never ending. Following Rasul (SAW) through the teachings of Ahl Ul Bayt (AS) is now my way of life and believe that one should encompass around this with determination and good intention. My life entails mostly around my family and friends and earning by halal means. I would say I am very close to my family helping out whenever necessary and offering my love to them. I have not the inclination towards the traditional pakistani culture i.e. families living 'on top' of one another, not interested in Bollywood or music for that matter or going out for excessive shopping. Being moderate is much more my thing and listening to nohas/nasheeds, lectures and Qur'anic recitation, although watching a good meaningful film out on cinema/video is too. I like to eat healthily, occasionally going out for meals and generally enjoying myself within obvious boundaries. I like to have a good laugh and joke with a very witty and down to earth personality being able to communicate with people from all different levels and backgrounds. People say I don't act or look my age, I've even been mistaken for a college student on several occasions! Respecting people from whatever background they are from is very important to me as I believe it makes one understand others and allows one to be more open minded in life. I see lack of open mindedness leads to a lack of education and learning and therefore is the main cause of arrogance and ignorance which is a problem even in todays ummah.
