Religious practice

Hello. I am a recent convert to Islam. IÂ’ve felt called for years, but finally decided it was the path laid out for me and that I should have the faith to follow. I am still learning the proper observations, rituals, etc, so I would respectfully ask for patience and certainly assistance from my husband and his family in learning how to be the best muslimah and wife I can be. I know that this is not a desirable quality in a Muslim wife for many men or their families, but I believe in being honest and upfront, instead of pretending I am something I am not. Thank you for your understanding.

My partner preferences

I refuse to give Allah (swt) a “grocery list,” if you will and turn up my nose at any man that doesn’t fit my exact specifications. I trust in Him to provide what he knows I need - an honest, decent, caring, family oriented man. While I believe He will provide, I have children from my previous marriage, so I could only marry a man who would treat my children with kindness, decency, and respect at a minimum. I know that I have a higher likelihood of finding a connection with a man who is funny, doesn’t take himself (or me) too seriously, has a generally positive outlook on life and can find a way to see the good in people and most situations. I choose to find joy and goodness in life, whenever possible, and hope to find a partner able to do the same. There are always bumps along the road, but I prefer not to focus only on the negative, but take a realistic/optimistic view of things. I hope I could find a husband that can take joy in the simple things in life, while not turning away from the possibility for the truly magnificent. I have a law degree from a well known American school, and while I do not believe that diplomas are the only thing that matters, I certainly value intelligence and a keen desire to learn in a partner. Ideally, my partner would be from a Western country or a good mix of East/West.

I have always been told that I am a funny, kind, empathetic, generous, and loving person. I try every day to live up to those ideals. I am a modest person, both in my dress, behavior, and manner. I am respectful of family and my elders. I know that I have much to learn, but I am a quick learner and always open to being taught the proper way of things. IÂ’ve always been told that I am a friendly and likable person. I can get along with most everyone, even if that means I must adjust my manner in some way to keep harmony with others. That being said, I am not a complete doormat and will politely stand up for what is right in the best way I can. I enjoy a wide range of activities and am always eager to learn new things, go new places, and have adventures.
