Religious practice

Bismillah, ar-Rahman, ar-Rahim. Salaam alaykum, I take care of my obligatory religious requirements and watch daily majalis lectures to continuously improve my knowledge on Islam and Ahlulbayt (AS). I am also trying to read the literature left for us by our imams, for example, Treatise of The Rights by Imam Zain al-Abidin (AS). I am also seeking a closer relationship with the holy Quran inshallah. My goal is to hold on to the Quran and Ahlulbayt (AS) in the most literal way.

My partner preferences

Ideally someone who I can always progress spiritually with throughout life, following in the footsteps of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) and his wife Hamida (AS) -in the sense of their compatibility in their knowledge and actions ie. whatever knowledge Imam possessed, Hamida also possessed etc. Spiritually they were always on the same level. Their marriage presents a great example for the sort of relationship that a wife and her husband should seek to strive towards inshallah. Physical strength and fitness is a big part of faith and one's spiritual health. So someone who is physically active or seeking to consistently improve their overall health and appearance would be great. More on this at the end of my bio inshallah. I will also state that the age of a potential wife is not really an issue as far as I'm concerned.

More about me

I am a convert to the school of Ahlulbayt (AS). My knowledge of Ahlulbayt (AS) is strong and progressing on a daily basis alhamdulilah. The quest of a knowledge-seeker never ends. This philosophy combined with an objective mindset is what brought me to Ahlulbayt (AS) and it is what will enable me to become spiritually closer to them and Allah (SWT) inshallah. I will be beginning a Hawza Studies degree at the Islamic College in London this coming October Insha'Allah. I believe this course will be pivotal in my spiritual and academic development in Quran and the Islamic Sciences. I am a man of morals and I try to implement and respect the 51 rights of my body parts and other human beings left for us by Imam Zain al-Abidin (AS) to the best of my ability. I am kind hearted and possess good mannerisms... I can continue to highlight bias traits about myself but Allah (SWT) knows my attributes best. I am a trained journalist and I have interned for some of the biggest UK publications over the last four years as a sports writer including: CITY AM, The Independent, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Men's Health and Men's Fitness. I also interned for an English language Chinese magazine in Beijing for a short period during the summer of 2014. However, I am currently freelancing for Imam Hussein tv3 as a presenter and reporter. This new position is more than just a job for me. It allows me to serve Ahlulbayt (AS) and it has also enabled me to interact with brothers and sisters from the Shia community. The latter is a big deal for me because I live in a part of east London where Shia communities and centres are non-existent. Journalism taught me ethics within the boundaries of research and reporting, and it taught me about objectivity. Had I not pursued journalism I don't think that I would have became a Shia. Without journalism perhaps I wouldn't have approached Shia Islam with an open, objective mind. Sayed Ammar Nakshawani was a huge influence on my conversion. The lecture circuit which he delivered about the misconceptions of Shia Islam during Ramadan 2012, combined with his series of majlis on the biographies of the fourteen infallibles during Ramadan 2011, and his phenomenal 24-night thorough dissection of the life of Imam Ali (AS) during Ramadan 2014 were all pivotal factors in me embracing the school of Ahlulbayt (AS). His work continues to provide inspiration for me on a daily basis both on YouTube and in the flesh at the Hyderi Islamic Centre. I attend the Hyderi Islamic Centre regularly to listen to majalis from Sayed Ammar, where he is resident speaker. This is for the benefit of the increasing of my knowledge and also to integrate with the community, which are both important for a Muslim. I look after myself by taking care of my diet in strict fashion. I also attend the gym five times per week and partake in hybrid training, including HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) for the effective burning of body fat, and at the same time limiting muscle mass loss. This is a routine that works on the strength, size and fitness of the human being. I have full confidence in these three aspects of my physique. But sharing knowledge on this aspect of life is always something that I enjoy doing. So yes, it's a good point of conversation I guess and presents a fantastic opportunity to bond with someone who strives to achieve optimum health.
