Religious practice

I am a moderately religious individual. As a Nizari Ismaili, I adhere to the ethics and principles of our faith to the best of my abilities, however I am not strict or rigid, but rather open and seek an esoteric understanding of our faith; through knowledge and education. I am an active volunteer in our Mosque and am a member of the funeral committee. I believe in doing good to and for others, which in turn will beget you good as well. I do not mind the level of religious practice that my potential partner may have. Every individual is entitled to their own belief, and level of faith. I would however like my partner to be open minded and understanding to the complexities of faith and belief.

My partner preferences

My potential partner should be kind hearted, generous and value their family particularly their parents. She must also have an open and curious mind and have formal education. While physical attractiveness is not the most important quality, my potential partner should be appealing to me. In no way does this mean that I am shallow; but I believe attractiveness is an important foundation for any relationship; after all this is a lifetime commitment. She should be comfortable with both socializing & meeting new people and sometimes just staying at home with me and watch netflix. She should share some common interests with me and be able to engage in stimulating conversation with me; I love to talk, I am very social person and am looking for someone who can match my personality and intellect. My parents are very important to me, I look after them and spend most of my time with them; so I would be grateful if my potential partner would be able to treat them with love and respect. I am certain that my parents will show my partner the same fondness and affection that they show me. She should be able to maintain a healthy balance between "deen" and "duniya"; and if she would like to work I would have no objection as long as she is able to make time for us and have her priorities in order. Perhaps most importantly she should understand me and treat me with the same kindness and respect I will treat her with. She should be supportive of me, as I will be of her. I want someone who will fight for me and stand by my side in the face of adversity. Lastly, it is my hope that in time she will grow to love and care for me and play an important and integral part in our future.

More about me

I am kind to a fault. I always put the need of others before my own. I sometimes get hurt because of this, but my personality is such that I don't show it. This however does not stop me from being good to others. I often find myself doing 'sevva' for the elderly and the elders of the mosque without the expectation of any reward or thanks. In public I am very social and am able to make conversation with just about anyone; but I am somewhat guarded and rarely share any intimate details of my personal life with anyone. I hope to change that with my potential partner, I would like to share even the most mundane details with her and hopefully she the same with me. Communication and understanding are very important. My family is very important to me. I stay with and look after my parents, I spend a lot of time with them and as such am very close to them. A lot of people in my community view me as a 'son' figure and I do my utmost to live up to their expectations. I studied abroad but came back to be with my parents, I took over the family business of Whole Sale Food Supply when I came back. It was not my first choice, but sometimes God has a plan for you and you just have to be thankful for what you have. I have a honors degree in Communications and IT; so by nature I am very fond of gadgets and technology. I am also an avid gamer and enjoy playing video games in my spare time. I also really enjoy TV shows (or series as some like to call them) and movies. I love art, architecture and museums. I enjoy all kinds of music but am partial to classical (Mozart, Chopin, Bach...). In addition to recreational reading I also enjoy reading about new advances in technology and try my best to keep up with the current trends. I am fond of sports, particularly American Football and Soccer to a lesser extent. I like going to the Cinema and going out to eat, I also like to cook (which apparently I'm quite good at) and travel. I love to travel, see new places meet new people. I have a vibrant personality and a good sense of humor; I would like my partner to match that. I would love to be able to share my likes with my potential partner, I would make every effort to make sure she participates in and maybe even enjoy the same things I do. Ok enough of what I like, what do I dislike... I dislike liars and pretenders. I prefer candor and honesty. I dislike lack of common sense. I don't eat seafood or strange and exotic vegetables and pulses. I abhor cruelty to people and animals. I don't like people who are disrespectful and rude. Above all, and I mean this one takes the cake... I hate being patronized. I really dislike being condescended to. I would much rather have a civil and rational conversation and have that individual view me as equal. I believe I would be a good partner because I would show my partner kindness, respect and affection. I would make her happiness my priority and make sure that she is accepted and loved within my family. I would ensure that I participate in her hobbies, likes and interests; even if they don't appeal to me. Of Course I would expect the same in return. I would be a loving, caring and respectful partner. Due to my devotion as a son, I would treat her parents with respect and understanding. I would give her freedom to express herself and grow as an individual. I would not stifle her personality, her Id. I would make her feel involved and welcome, I would listen to her opinions, her views. She would have a voice in my life, and I hopefully in hers. I would never intentionally hurt her or make her feel unloved or unappreciated or unwanted. Most importantly I would make her happy.
