I am currently studying bahth al kharij in Najaf. My religion is very important to me both in terms of formal practice and ethics and I hope in sha' Allah it is reflected on my behaviour. I love to make my family happy by making them laugh and will often go to extraordinary lengths to do so. I love spending time with my parents. The time we have left together is so precious and I want to treasure every moment of it. If there is someone who feels the same about hers, it would be good because I think that that is the sort of person I would like have a family with one day in sha' Allah. I am not an academic but I do get very excited and passionate about my work because I really love Arabic as a language and the rich and beautiful cultural legacy left by the Masumeen. As is probably obvious from my ethnic background and place of birth, I became Shia after extensive research. It was over twenty years ago. It is now becoming increasingly difficult to remember ever having been anything else! My family is Sunni but exceedingly interested in Shiism. I tried to fit like a square peg in a round hole in the wrong job as an Immigration Lawyer for several years so now I'm catching up for lost time, trying to have at least one volume published per year. It seemed such an awful shame to waste my undergraduate degree just to become the punchline of a load of bad lawyer jokes, by which I mean both jokes about bad lawyers and bad jokes about lawyers. Having said that, I do still manage to keep a good balance between work and leisure time. I have become very wary about this and similar websites because it's so easy to get stung. I prefer to find out more about the other person and for her to find out more about me through our families meeting rather than protracted online communication which can give a very artificial impression of the other person. I was 10 months old when I was brought by my parents to the UK. I grew up here and I am a British citizen. One of my oldest memories is of seeing the trash compactor scene from A New Hope at the cinema when it was first released. I thought they were going for a little swim but I was only 2 or 3 at the time. Thankfully I know better now! My ethnicity is Cape Malay. Why that should matter I have no idea but some members do have a tendency to forget aya 13 of Surat al-Hujurat.
